Insurance Repairs Gone Wrong

Almost every day we see cars at Eli’s that have been previously repaired by DRP (Insurance company recommended) auto body shops. You would think that because an insurance company recommended a shop, that their repairs would be solid, but sadly, this is not always the case. In a previous blog post, we have explained why you should choose an auto body shop recommended by a dealership instead of an insurance company. We see so many sub-par repairs that we decided to chronicle this phenomenon on our blog and inform our customers the truth about insurance company-recommended body shops.

Case #1: Nissan Altima

For our first case of Insurance Repairs Gone Wrong, let’s take a look at this Nissan Altima. Believe it or not, the following pictures were taken AFTER the repairs were performed by the insurance-recommended shop. As you can see, the car was repaired with old, rusted parts which pose both functional and cosmetic risks to the customer. The reason why many insurance body shops repair cars like this is that it saves them money. The insurance shop benefits from getting more business and the insurance company pays out much less money, leaving the customer with an unsafe, unsightly vehicle. The saddest part is that these repairs were accepted and warranted by the insurance company!

Take a look at these pictures below and ask yourself, “would I let my loved ones drive away with these repairs?”
